Groningen is the main municipality as well as the capital city of the eponymous province in the Netherlands. It is the largest city in the north of the Netherlands and has approximately 230,000 inhabitants.Groningen is an old city (more than 950 years) and was the regional power of the north of the Netherlands, a semi-independent city-state and member of the German Hanseatic League. Groningen is a university city, with an estimated 31,000 students at the University of Groningen (Wiki)
A few personal words on Groningen: I find Groningen very interesting for its different architecture, for its very busy and vivid city life and for its bicycle culture. There are only a few cars on the streets. The urban traffic is almost dominated by the cyclists. By the way, it is almost impossible taking a picture without a bike on it.
