Die Stadt Alesund liegt an der Westküste Norwegens,etwa 500 km nordwestlich von Oslo,auf drei Inseln (Hessa,Norvoy und Aspoy), die durch Brücken miteinander und mit dem Festland verbunden sind.Alesund ist ein architektonisches Juwel in Norwegen.Im Jahre 1904 brannte die ganze Stadt nieder,ehemals Holzhäuser,etwa 900,mindestens 10 000 Menschen waren auf einem Schlag obdachlos.Ein schreckliches Schicksal, was dazu führte,daß die Stadt mit finanzieller Unterstützung des deutschen Kaisers Wilhelm II (Gedenkstein im Stadtpark von Alesund) in einem neuen Stil,im Jugendstil, wieder aufgebaut wurde.So kam es,daß Alesund durchgehend von der neuen internationalen Kunstströmung,die um die Jahrhundertwende in Gang kam, zu einem seltenen Platz in Norwegen mit Jugenstil-Architektur wurde,mag sein,nicht in dem Glanz wie bei den Gebäuden in Paris,Brüssel,Berlin,Wien.... aber dennoch,sie hat ihren eigenen Reiz und ihre eigene architektonische Schönheit. Eine kurze Bemerkung zum Schluß.All die Ornamentik und Dekoration des Jugendstils ist nicht beim Betrachten der kleinen Vorschaubilder zu erkennen,es ist nötig,die Bilder in „Original“-Qualität zu öffnen,um diese Kunst im Detail zu sehen.          The city Alesund is located at the west coast of Norway,about 350 miles northwestern from Oslo,located on three islands (Hessa,Norvoy and Aspoy),which are connected by bridges and connected with the mainland of Norway. Alesund is an architecural juwel in Norway.In 1904 the whole city burned down,formerly timber buildings,about 900,and 10 000 humans were on impact without shelter,in a terrible fate.So it happened that the whole city was built up in the current running new style ,in Art Nouveau – with financial support of the German emperor Wilhem II (memorial stone in the city park of Alesund). So Alesund is a rare place in Norway with the international new style of Art Nouveau coming up in the 1900s. Maybe it has not at the same glance as buildings in Paris,Bruessels,Berlin,Vienna.... built in this style period....nevertheless it has its own attraction and beauty.
