Lifebuoy

John Muir Country Park

This is another picture taken at John Muir Country Park.
It is a wonderful place in all seasons.
The beach here stretches for several miles and is often deserted.
Facing into the North Sea, it is often windswept, and a wonderful place for a bracing walk.
We were lucky and the sun shone for a short while, enough to light this scene.

This lifebuoy looks like it has been here for years, and the paint is gradually being sand-blasted away.
In the distance, on the horizon, you can just make out the Bass Rock.

Gorgeous seascape. The lifebouy and reeds in the foreground along with the reed stubbles receding into the distance give this shot a great deal of depth. I see by the exif that it was a midday shot which goes to prove one can get excellent photos during this time of day.

Very interesting lighting...how did you do that? The foreground has no shadow and is obviously not directly sunlit, and should be pretty dark with that sky, yet the pole against the sky isn't blacked out.

Very good composition and the colour of the bouy is striking against the blue sky.

In the thumb I thought it was a Christmas wreath, but I'm not disappointed Bill as it's a fantastic image. How many years of service is there in a Lifebouy !!...this is not a knock-knock joke :>O

Beautiful, Bill. The colors are wonderful and the photo looks lonely, but not lost. The lifebouy is just waiting for people to return.
