Not a self portrait! This is a wooden carving of Ben Sayers in North Berwick, my home town.
He is (was) famous in golfing circles as a player but also as the maker of golf balls and clubs.
He started his company in 1876 and you can still buy equipment branded with his name.
He was only 5' 3" but a good golfer and almost won the Open in St Andrews in 1888.
I don't play golf but appreciate the golf courses in North Berwick as places to walk my dogs!
