Yes. An outboard would have to go into a well, reducing planing surface. An inboard runs smoother and quieter, also.

Dave,
Why did you choose the inboard version as opposed to the outboard. Do you anticipate better perforamance, or was their some other reason?

I really appreciate your pictures. I anticipate building one for myself.
