Warragamba Dam in Flood - Keith and Barry

In this photo Keith was 7-8 months old in august 1986 when Warragamba Dam crested.
There was large scale flooding with the Nepean - Hawkesbury river and Georges rivers
flooding. On the day this photo was originally taken in 1986 I had to drive via the
high level flood viaduct at Camden to avoid the Nepean River at Wallacia.
The main bridge at Camden had also gone under as had Milperra, Landsdown and Dead
Mans creek bridges. I couldn't drive to work at Lucas Heights so we took the
day off work to visit Warramgamba Dam and see it in flood.
Yesterday (28/2/13) the dam crested again - no widespread floods yet!
After a long drought Warragamba Dam has crested twice in the last 12 months.

We too have been watching Warragamba's offerflow on TV over the past few days(huge amounts of water considering that it is not so long ago ,talk was of a shortage) and remembering the past low levels flooding and feeling sorrow of those affected at the moment.

A great reminder from the past. v
