Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II

The Canon extension tube (EF 25 II) is designed to work with the newer EFS lens as well as the original lenses. This gallery explores the macro range possible with the following lens and the EF 25 II. EF 50mm f/1.8, EFS 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 II, EFS 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM, EF 75-300 f/4-5.6.
The extra macro range combined with the 18-55 kit lens is 0.45 to 1.0 (as measured). The gap between 0.35 and 0.45 is plugged (just) with the EFS 17-85 (set to 85mm). Beyond 0.45 ( with closer focusing) on the EFS 17-85 the object gets to touch the front filter and perhaps could be used slide copying only.
The file names are: MACRO magnification as 0xnn, focal length of lens, ef25 (if used) and focus (cu-close up, mid, far)

Hi Barry,,being retired all I have is lots of time,,read an article where they spiked the flower with honey to get the bees or whatever they wanted in the photo,,put a colored backdrop,,pre-focused for DOF and sat back and waited,,have been reading all I could about the subject and can't wait to try some of it out,,have got to set up some colored tooth picks in a row and see just how much DOF I can get not wanting to make boo boos shot after shot,,and for me it's just another toy to enjoy,,thank you for putting the gallery on for us beginners. Hi Chas. Thanks for your comment. The only disadvantage to using extension tubes is the time to set up and focus properly. Its a fun time to be had with the toys. Using the EF12 and EF25 on my 100mm-400mm gives great close focus results too.

I've updated my 350D to a 500D,,had my heart set on a Canon 100mm macro,,tax and all 700 dollars here in Canada,,got a no name set and they are good but picked up a Canon EF 12 II only because of the build quality and good AF,,just sent away for the 25 II and it should be here in a couple weeks,,they do the same thing at 1.4 the price,,have a much older Canon EF 50-200mm L lens,,at 3 ft and 200mm it's pin sharp with the 12 II,,it's just a fun toy and I will play with it,,50mm 1.8 mark I is very close with the 12 II,,have a few lenses I can play with and hope learning is quick. The working distance varies. Reasonable (10-5cm) for the EF 18-55 and ef25 set to 55mm. Call back as I intend to do another more extensive test now that I have an ef12 and a 2x Sigma teleconvertor.
