I could not find the Booby/Gannet photos you mentioned on FlaBirds, but I did look at many of your photos (wonderful), and I also went to Bodie and Mono Lake in July 2006. You know, all of the Phalaropes are not Wilson's, there are a few Red-necked too, which was a life bird for me. You have to look at every single bird and then finally you see the difference in size, behavior and color. Also, that white-tailed jack rabbit is actually a very unusual hare, you have to look it up. Only seen up high. I am not sure if it is a snowshoe hare in summer plumage, or has another name. I am glad you figured out the name of all the rodents, they are my favorite, after the birds.

Evan,

I really enjoyed your photos at SANC. I am a frequent visitor there. The White-tailed buck you saw at Doctor's Park, I've seen and photographed at SANC. I think he recently lost half his rack. I have some photos as well of SANC. They can be viewed at; www.paulcsparks.com
You can also drop me an email through my website if you like. It's always good to talk to another nature and photography enthusiast. I've recently been trying to find places to photograph owls and may go up to Buena Vista next week sometime.

Thanks for your time.

Evan,

I read that you're looking for some birds around Sarasota. I was in Florida back in October and found Red-cockaded very easily at Babcock-Webb WMA. Bachmans's Sparrows are there also, but they would be quiet this time of the year. Also, Burrowing Owls are very easy to find near the library in Cape Coral. The Sarasota Celery Fields park is supposed to be a good place to look for Fulvus Ducks. I found Black-bellied but not Fulvus there. Go early in the morning or late evening. Barn Owls are possible in the evenings also. Some of my photos in that area are at www.pbase.com/birdmanmartin if you'd like to see them.

Best of Luck

Evan, I really love your work. You show a great sensitivity to nature. Be careful about entering them in contests- as many rules require you to give up your copyright- which means they could resell them or publish them as long as they want- leaving you without ownership.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for displaying your photos. I am looking at getting an XTi with a Canon IS 100-400mm USM lens for bird photography. I was wondering how the Rebel XTi did, since many say your need the Canon 30D or 40D. Your photos answer my questions and show the quality the XTi has available. Thanks for sharing your settings on the photos, too. Larry

I love your photos, the focus is great. It must be tiring to travel all the time.
Do you ever take pictures of people? If not, I think it would be a great challange and expirence. You know it is quite different then nature. I look foward to seeing your new pictures. Thank you
