Fremantle is only 30 minutes by train from Perth.

Rottnest Island is just a ferry ride from Fremantle and is beautiful and largely unspoilt. Coves and beaches, white sand and turquoise sea, sea birds, whales and the small brown marsupial quokkas which are found nowhere else. There are no cars and visitors of all ages ride happily ride bicycles. There is also a hop on/off bus which stops at the various bays.
