Palaces and castles.

Christiansborg Palace, is just one of the city's prized attractions on Castle Island, right in in the heart of Copenhagen. It has more than 800 years of history and is still used by the Queen of Denmark for state dinners, banquets and receptions. The sumptuous royal apartments are richly decorated. One of the most interesting rooms is the Great Hall, decorated with eleven stunning modern tapestries.

Amalienborg Palace is the royal family's main residence and consists of four matching residences. Every day at noon visitors can watch the changing of the Danish Royal Life Guard. The palace on show to visitors is Christian VIII's palace presented as a museum of the most recent kings and queens.

Rosenborg Castle, built in the 17th century, stands in beautiful parklands and the King's Garden and contains the Treasury with heavily guarded crown jewels, but open to public viewing.
