Early spring, a muddy tow path, skeletal trees, still water, hedgerows in bud, damp woods, moody skies, stone bridges and old locks, wild flowers' first appearance, boats quietly at anchor or just as quietly drifting by.
We walked the 11 miles from Wall Heath to Kinver village (there and back) along part of the Wolverhampton to Stourbridge canal. Ducks in pairs or groups sailed by or nestled on the canal banks in the green grass, robins and song birds flitted and twittered and occasional fellow walkers nodded a greeting as they passed us.
