All images are copyright. Please do not use without my permission. Photos from a 26 day trip to Myanmar this Feb '04. Travel to Yangon (Rangoon), Bagan, Mandalay, Lake Inle, Nyaung Shwe, Ngapali Beach, Thandwe, Sittwe (Akyab), Mruk O, Chin State, Mawlamyine (Moulmein), Hpa An, Bago, Golden Rock (Kyaikhtiyo). Photos taken with a Canon D60 and either the 28-135mm IS or the 16-35mm f2.8L lens. Post-processing in PS CS (but I'm learning still, any tips or suggestions?)

Your faces show the people's 'being' as well as their physical dimension. I stumbled on your web page as I was googeling - or however you spell it- David Bibbings-he posted a comment on your web page, so I saw it. While in Calgary at Spruce Meadows, I found a magazine called ME Sept. 2007 Identity Issue. It had such great pictures in it - the Ying and Yang caught my attention. I wanted to see if I could get other copies, but there is nopublisher - it just states a 'production of i media. Googled that too-no success. Sandy Hayes s.l.h@shaw.ca

Beautiful! I've planned a trip to Yangon but now I'm going to extend to Bagan. Monks are my favorite subject.

Great pictures, however I was hoping there would be other ethnic pictures besides Burmese. What about Chin, Kachin, Karen and other minorities?

1) I am not making any profit from the photos of the Chin tribe. 2) I do own the copyright since I took the photos and did so with the permission of the models. 3) I contributed a substatial sum to the headman of the village to put towards the teacher's salary and the completion of the school. Posting these photos here lets people from around the world see a bit of a culture that they may not even know existed. What are you doing for your own Chin community?

as a Chin person myself, I'm curious about your claim to the copyright of these images. I hope that even a tiny proportion of any benefits you gain out of these photos returns to the subjects.

Beverly you have captured the Burmese people so well! We have just returned from a visit of Yangon, Bagan and Inle lake and we fell in love with Inle Lake and their people. It was a national geographic experience. I'm impressed with the quality of your photos and wonder how much zoom your camera had? We hope to see the re of our group's photos soon. A few were also photo buffs as yourself. I never did capture the monks procession in the morning. Is it possible to have one of your photos? Thanks again. Sylvia

Hi Verti, Thank you for your comments. As to the post processing, I hope I'm not doing too much. I agree the JPEGs don't look so hot. I shoot RAW and process in PS CS. By the time that resize the image down and convert to JPEGs for web posting, they don't look so good. Compression artifacts, color washed out. I am still working on this. Any advice?

beautiful, vital portraits. I especially liked the little girl with her dog, although it seems some extreme post processing was done when I enlarge the thumbnail.
