Beverly,

I moved to Anchorage, the big city. They told me I had a heart attack so I spent 8 months recuperating. Then they told me I never had no heart attack....so I spent 8 months recuperating from nothing! My lawyer says that's a Zen koan. I'm gonna look at your pictures now. James Mason

You are a woman of many talents! We could display some of the very expressive pictures of women and children in the clinic in that little viewbox across from the sitting area. Your sis looks a lot like you. Loved the pics of Julie, Jonathan, and Rangy.

Hi Hans, All galleries (except where it says "Old photos from film") were taken with a Canon digital SLR camera, either the Canon D60 or the 20D.

Hi Beverly,

Saw your Myanmar-pictures, and loved them. May I be so bold as to ask which films you used?

Hi Mike,
The tattooed ladies of the Chin tribe live remotely, a trip of about 4 hours by small motoboat, north of Mruk U. I visited their village to see them. They are bamboo farmers. If you do go to see them, make a cash contribution to the headman of the village to help fund the school.

Dear Beverly,
I have enjoyed looking at your collection of photos taken in Myanmar.
I have added a comment - actually request to use one photograph in a report.
Thanks,

Dear Beverly,
I have enjoyed looking at your collection of photos taken in Myanmar. I found them while looking for information on cheroots in Myanmar. I am writing an article on cancer prevention for South Asia. I am based in India, where cheroots are very small. I noticed those in Myanmar are quite large. I would like to ask your permission to use one photo of a woman smoking a cheroot. Please let me know. If you need more information from me, I'll be glad to send it.

I love the absolutely stunning images of Japanese gardens. You have captured their essence. I could actually get the feeling of being there! You have a fabulous eye for color and detail.

Interesting galleries. Cheers.

Dear Beverly,

I am currently making an anime (japanese animation) and would like to use some of your photos as backgrounds for some of the scenes.
If I am able to, I will be making them into animation style pictures, not keeping them as photos.
I would greatly appreciate it if I could use them and will, if you want, send you a copy of the animation once it is completed.
Please get back to me... time is important!
Thanks.
Yours sincerely,

Thank you for your compliments about my picture of monks at lunch in Mandalay. I don't often take pictures of people as I don't like intruding on their space. For this one, I just gritted my teeth & took the one shot. Though it is eerily quite while the monks eat, some still prefer to pick up their food & take it to their rooms. Which is what happened after I took the picture.

Dear Bev,

I actually saw your self portrait at jdate and decided to check out your galleries. I started out a long time ago with an old camera where you had to look down at upside down images. Your photos are wonderful. I love the interplay of color and faces. Some beautiful faces and a richness of tones that is inspiring. Thanks very much for sharing.

Your photographic images sensitively combine color composition and human values (sympathy, humor, awe) all essential elements in a work of art. You have truly become a rennaisance woman. I applaud you.

Thanks, Beverly, for leaving those gracious comments in my guestbook. I am delighted that my portfolios of travel imagery inspires you. You have made some excellent travel images yourself --I left some comments on them this morning. Your own photography is often delightful -- you have an eye for the incongruous, the abstract, and for human values -- the three factors most important in expressive photography. The greatest challenge is getting them all to consistently work together for you.

I hope that my 'cyberbook' on expressive travel photography will be useful to you, Beverly -- thanks so much for browsing my galleries, and feel free to leave comments and ask questions. I'd be delighted to answer them.

Hi, Beverly!
What a wonderful surprise to see your incredible pictures on the internet! =) The quality of your photos is excellent & exactly what i was looking for. I'm a 4th year dental student, working on a public health project for geriatric patients in the boston area & i would really love to have your permission to use one of your photos in the elders' brochure (for oral care) that i am creating--> the "blessings" pic is a lovely portrait that would look great on the brochure cover!

Would you please email me back & let me know if this would be fine with you? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks a lot!

Dear Beverly Brot!
I would like to ask of your sanction to accommodation to Russian site vitawater.ru photos http://www.pbase.com/image/7537057 in size medium.
I would like to place this photo in article on aquaristik. The matter is that the Japanese gardens and the Japanese aquariums are very close on the compositions. I already have photo of an aquarium, arranged Takashi Amano, I have already received the sanction to which publication. Your remarkable photo is surprisingly similar to it on style, but is more beautiful. Comparison of an aquarium and a garden can it will turn out very interesting.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Vladimir V. Kovalev.

Thank you very much for your compliment.
Talking of colours, undoubtedly you are great as colours, to me, are the focus of many of your shots. Besides, your portraits are really very impressive, which is something I envy. Watching your portraits of the people in Indochina is simply enjoyable.

Hi Beverly! Just droppin by to see your homepage, I'm quite thrilled as here I see a lot of your work and I think it's great. I like the way you see the life around you, there's so much spirit you are exposing and capturing, it's just like a mixture of two; don't ever stop taking photos, just go on and share this colorful expressionism with the rest of us. Greetings, George (PhotoSig)

Enjoy your photographs. You have a good eye. I really like the gardens... Read on Photosig you were a Dr. I'm a retired nurse...after two shoulder surgeries..can no longer lift..still have limitations. I miss nursing terribly. Looking for something to do I thought I'd try photography. I also shoot digital..less equipment that way. Really enjoy the learning part...still have so much to learn. I'm considering taking some classes. I'm also starting a writing class (to do travel articles) this week. You have been to some amazing places. Regards. Anna Smith

There are amazing the similarities in our work. Japanese gardens, cats, etc. I also think we deserve more points! I live in near Seattle, and I assume you are in Oregon.
Just wanted to say I think your photos show a lot of talent, and I appreciate them very much.

A lovely composition -- combining a tapestry of complimentary primary and
secondary hues -- a compelling point of extremely sharp focal interest --
snapped precisely at the fleeting moment of day, when color saturation appeared
greatest.

I loved it!

Oh, pishaw! You might as well know -- I liked the image so much, am using
it with a light sky blue background matt (actually seen as a subdued luster from
the sky off the left leaf of the cana plant) for wallpaper, on my 19" desk
monitor.

You wont turn me in for copyright infringement, I pray, will you?

Beverly,

I've enjoyed your critiques and photos on photosig. Great work!

Years ago in high school in a small town in Missouri not far from St. Louis, I had a friend named Donna Brott. Any relation per chance? My best high school buddy dated Donna but she moved away sometime in our junior year, as I recall. Seeing your name brought back memories of double dates in Bill's dad's white '59 Pontiac Frontier Coupe and made me wonder.

P.S. Since you elected to not list your e-mail address (smart move), I just wanted to assure that I'm not some weird Internet stalker (well, maybe a little weird) :>) You can scope me out at my website at www.sprick.net.

Guten Tag, Meine Doktern --

It was indeed my pleasure to tour your unique and beautiful galleries on www.PBASE.com/barbados this rainy Saturday afternoon. The artistic sense
of composition -- your inherent agility at camera handling technique --
the changes in mood and tone -- are tastefully demonstrated in each of the
galleries -- but I must confess the images in and around Astoria and the
Mouth of the Columbia River, as it prepares to shake hands with the Pacific
Ocean, are my personal favorites.

Thank you for introducing me to a whole new world of gallery image viewing.

Lebe wohl, Meine Doktern!

Bev,
Well done! Your sense of composition and use of color is very strong. These are not the snapshots of an amature! Did you learn this by trial and error only? Or did you take some lessons.

Thanks for sharing your website.
