A shot looking across to one of the better preserved islets. Three of the people on this shot were the boatmen/guides that had brought me from Kolonia (a very rough trip!) and the other is a local who seemed to be some sort of caretaker of the city. Nan Madol is a World Heritage designated site, and you need permission to visit. The local man told me that on the day that I was there, I was the only visitor, so it is not one of those places like Machu Pichu, Angkor Wat or the Pyramids where they are over-run with tourists.
