The road has deep pits, bumps, deep, soft sand that snares a lot of cars leaving them in need of a tow. Even if you have a high clearenece vehicle or better yet a 4 x 4, you're going to end up with red dirt in your air filters, AC filters, your carpet, etc.

I'm asuming the bone heads who tried this with all their windows open were in rentals. You'd be blanketed in red dust.
