Bird Island Nesting 2009

Bird Island (as I call it) is located on Old Hickory Lake as part of the Cumberland River in Middle Tennessee. This island was the nesting place of Great Blue Herons, Black Crowned Night Herons, White Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Wood Ducks, Mallards and Cormorants. This island is less than a 1/2 acre in size. It was a wonderful experience to watch these birds raise their babies from March through July 2009.

This sounds like a great place to go bird "shooting". Kind of like the Venice Rookery in Florida. Wonder how far it is from Western NC.
