Temple of Jupiter

The six remaining pillars of the Temple of Jupiter, each measuring 19m high, with the Temple of Bacchus in the background. Located in Baalbeck, Lebanon, I believe this has been designated as a UN heritage site.

To put the scale in perspective, the average human being is only as tall as the base of the pillar. Rewind 2000 years, isn't that a magnificent architectural feat?

Brought back some memories. I was lucky to visit palmyra, damascus, hama, and the crac de shavela. In the 70's when i was a child. Unfortunetly we had to leave because the bomb's started to drop. But i will have palmyra in my heart untill the day i die.
