Scenes from in and around Depoe Bay, Oregon. Depoe Bay, founded May 22, 1973, is famous as the world's smallest deep sea harbor. It is named for William Depoe, a Siletz Indian who worked at a US Army supply depot in Siletz bay starting on 1856. It is reported that Sir Frances Drake visited Whale Cove in 1579, described the native Americans living there at the time and named it New Albion.
