The short 42' long Neal Lane Bridge is the only wooden king post truss structured covered bridge in Oregon and may be one of few still fully functioning wooden ones left. King post is the oldest and weakest of all truss structures and limited to very short bridges. At this bridge the central king post support is replaced with a steel or iron rod.
Neal Lane is located in the town of Myrtle Creek. The Horse Creek Bridge is also located in Myrtle Creek. Myrtle Creek is not to be confused with the better-known town of Myrtle Point, Oregon which is much closer to the Pacific Ocean.
