Cold and exhausted, I sat down to dinner at Chenek camp for my last night in the park. I sipped my first spoon of soup when a man, bursting with excitement, quietly shouted that an ibex had wandered onto the grounds. Well, since our only sighting had been the one appearing two frames earlier, we were excited too and made a dash to our tents for our cameras. And lo and behold, after trekking for two days at over 10,000 feet, here stood an ibex a mere 25 second walk from our soup bowls.
