Over the Last 2 weeks the Photography Club I belong too has had an exhibition of our photographic work at the Lake House, in Takapuna, on the North Shore of Auckland.
Today my friend Janice and I were assigned for 2.5 hours work looking after the gallery.
Here is a collection of photos I took today.
Some info:
The Lake House Art Centre is based in a 110 year old kauri home shifted from Takapuna Beach to its permanent site on Fred Thomas Drive. The arts centre has studios rented to a variety of artisis, including a print making group, sculptor, potters and painters.
From the 1890's to the 1990's the kauri lake House stood at the northern end of Takapuna Beach and frunctioned as a family home and a beachside boarding house. After changing ownership a number of times Lake House was finally gifted to North Shore City by Mr Bob Green in 1996. It was relocated in that year to the Barry's Point Reserve.
The lake house was used as a hospital in the 1918 1919 flu epidemic.
The House is now known as Lake House Arts Centre. Studios are let to a variety of artisits and meeting rooms are also available for hire. the gallery has a diverse range of exhibitions which change every three to four weeks. The naval Barrack Building has recently been relocated from Devonport to this site making this an historic must see on the shore.
Help! I haven't even taken my photos off the camera yet!!
Looks good Dawn - I'm not too sure about some of them tho!! Will now go and check them out.
