Crankshaft Timing Belt Pulley

Several people encounter problems removing the crankshaft timing belt pulley from the crankshaft. The likely cause is a broken or damaged crankshaft key that does not allow the pulley to slip off. Here are some assorted photos posted by board members showing how they split the pulley to remove it from the crankshaft. One board member added threaded holes in the new pulley so he could use the same puller used to remove the crankshaft pulley. The semi-circular crankshaft key only partially indexes the crankshaft pulley. Another board member had the crankshaft milled to accept a longer crankshaft key.
