Marfa Mystery Lights viewing area, Texas

Marfa Mystery Lights viewing point

This place was built to attract tourist to the town of Marfa, about 9 miles to the west. The story goes that balls of glowing light have been seen floating above the ground in the distance since the 1800’s. Is it a natural phenomenon or hoax? The Google Earth photo shows the outline of a former Air Force base that operated at this spot during World War II. Writers on the Internet note that there were no reported sightings of glowing lights when the military personnel were stationed here. Some believe that the lights are reflections of headlights from a highway in the distance.
People that claim to have seen the light say that it appears on the horizon to the south ans southeast.

The circular building and viewing platform look like they were recently constructed. The circular structure contains restrooms. Not much to do here in the daytime since the mystery lights are only seen at night.
