On the way to Fort Bowie (Click pic for more pictures)
I passed through Silver City and headed south on Highway 90 to Lordsburg. The highway slowly loses elevation and the scenery transition from a pinion pine forest to an open dessert plain with scattered yucca trees. The yucca flower is New Mexico’s state flower and it looked there was a spectacular bloom. I arrived at Lordsburg and found the New Mexico Visitor Information Center. I collected a number of brochures and proceeded west on Interstate 10.
