Thank you for taking the time to visit my galleries. Please feel free to comment on any photographs.Constructive remarks always appreciated.
I have been interested in photography for 30 years.I learnt on a variety of equipment including Minolta 101, the Olympus system and then Nikon, before turning digital, favouring the D200 and then the D90, and most recently, the D300. I am hoping that Nikon will bring out a smaller, lighter DSLR which has very high image quality on a par with the quality of their top DSLRs.
I also own a Leica M6 but would long to own an M9.Compromised with Leica X1 and see how I go.
But we all know that it's not the equipment that makes good photographs.I try to remember that "photography " means "drawing or painting with light".But success seems to be partly planning, partly good luck and lastly knowing your gear and how to use it.
I often feel disappointed by my results but sometimes struggle to discover why!
I trained as a teacher and specialised in Art as a main study, but had to teach a broad curriculum to primary age kids. Then I spent 13 years working as a wedding/social photographer. I think the more you do the better you get. When I go on a long trip, the shots get better usually. You also have the opportuniy to chat to like - minded people and there is a bond between most photograpers. In my last trip to Utah and California, lots of people came up to chat about photography especially at 5a.m. in the morning waiting for a sunrise.
