One of my favorites from yesterday's training camp. I love the watch :)

Keep your blood to your self!
Joel Edmundson of the Moose Jaw Warriors and Duncan Siemens of the Saskatoon Blades mix it up March 5, 2011 @ Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon.
Joel Hit Duncans helmet and opened up a couple of knuckles. The next photo shows a whack of blood on Duncans face, most of it was not his own, but Joels!
Joel, note to self - Remove his helmet before hitting the other guy :)
The Blades beat the Warriors 7-2, of course... What a stellar season they are having. The number one team in the WHL!!

I've Got your back..
Saskatoon Blades Curtis Hamilton backstops Goalie Steven Stanford as the action get's a little crazy around the net. The puck went off Hamilton's shoulder. The Blades suffered a rare 7-6 loss at home

My boys going to play in the big leauge..
At most home games, the Saskatoon Blades let a minor league hockey team sit on the bench during team warm ups.
Here's a shot of the son of one of my co-workers on the bench watching the pre game action.

Lets Go Boys...
Here's one I shot at the Saskatoon Blades game on Feb 9 vs. Moose Jaw as the Blades were going on the ice for the warm up. I had the camera under the bench and I shot it remotely with a Phottix trigger. I used a SB800 camera right and I knelt on the ice on the other side of the boards with another SB800. The flashes were triggered using Nikon's CLS system. I really do need to get some pocket wizards!

Waiting
Saskatoon Blades defence man Duncan Siemens waits in the tunnel for the rest of his team mates just before the pre game skate. The out of focus objects in the foreground are pucks that spell the word WIN. As the players come out, Captain Teigan Zahn knocks the pile of pucks onto the ice for the warm up.

Nice Hit
Brayden Schenn takes a hit tonight in a 7-5 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. He left the ice for a few minutes and came back to play a great game! The Blades ended Red Deers 11 game winning streak and are now 5 points ahead of them, leading the WHL :)
(it sure looks soft here on Pbase, WTH?)

One minute portrait of Brayden Schenn
So Mike Scissons from the Saskatoon Blades calls me up the other day at my day job and asks if I could grab a shot of Brayden on the ice before their practice that afternoon, he wanted to print a bunch of photos for Brayden to autograph @ the next Blades game. Sure, I said, what time? He says practice is at 2:30 and we can shoot @ 2:20.
Well, it's 2:25, the other players have come out on the ice ( I asked them to stay on the other end until we get the photo) and out comes Brayden. If I had more time I would have tried more poses and set up more lighting, but this is what I got before we had to leave the ice.
I shot with the Nikon CLS system, using the built in on camera flash and I asked John Brodsky to hold an SB800 off to my right for some side lighting.
It was over in about 45 seconds.... I'm glad my gear was ready to go when I got the call :)

Lens babied pre game
Steven Stanford and some of the guys before warm up before a game vs Prince Albert. I shot it with a lens baby, kind of a cool little lens on occasion

I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to do that :)
Saskatoon Blades forward Lukas Sutter gets a high stick in the face by Red Deer Rebels Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Needless to say, a fight quickly ensued!
The Blades defeated Red Deer by a score of 7-3
