In 1983-84, Malcom Furlow created the HOn3 San Juan Central project model railroad for Model Railroader. The innovative nature of the construction, combined with Malcom's immense talent, made this layout a landmark in model railroading in the United States. After a journey through several owners, the layout today is owned by Charlie Getz, a well known columnist for Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette. These few photos are from a NMRA PCR Coast Division Layout Tour Sept 2008 visit to this landmark layout, which is in great shape 25 years after it was built. Thank you to Charlie Getz for having the layout available for viewing for us all.
Hello John; Never see enough shots of this GREAT small layout. There are scenes not shown in the original series and book or postings of others shot thru, over and around a room full of bald guys! I am planning to build this layout in On30, soon and there are many parts of this layout that have never been photographed. Jim in Ohio
