Green Cove Station on the Virginia Creeper Trail

The thirty-four mile-long Virginia Creeper Trail, which runs from Abingdon, Virginia, to the North Carolina Line near Whitetop Mountain, is the most popular trail in Virginia. Each year the trail is visited by more than 25,000 bicycles, hikers, horseback riders, fisherman, bird-watchers, railroad buffs, and folks just out for a Sunday stroll. A famous photograph of the Green Cove Station was taken by famed railroad Photographer O. Winston Link
