On the way back to Mestia, a passenger of the taxi-jeep asked the driver to pull over by this cross, a memorial to one of his relative I think. The man pulled some food out of his bag - a big chunk of meat, a loaf of bread and a bottle of chacha (an alcoholic beverage produced locally) and disposed them around the cross. A prayer was said and everybody was invited to eat and drink in memory of the deceased.
The custom wants that each of the glasses of chacha, never less than three, must be drank at one go.
