Total Eclipse.jpg

Mere Wiltshire

This shows the stages of the Total Lunar Eclipse last night (3 March 2007). It's obviously a composite image as the exposure changed dramatically from 1/250 sec at the left hand end through to 30 seconds at the totality at the right hand end. The most difficult exposures were the ones around 2 seconds, too short to do with a lens cap, yet too long to avoid shake from the shutter. I was hoping to get the whole sequence through totality, to brightness again but the mist and clouds drew in at 12.30 am.

Canon EOS 5D ,Meade ETX90 telescope,Digital
Exposures from 1/250s at the brightest phase, through to 30 seconds at totality. The aperture is around f12 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original

Very nice.

Is there a reason you didn't use the mirror lock-up for the ones around 2 secs?
