The other night I sat down by the fire to read a book, but I could not draw my attention away from the fire itself. The mysterious dancing forms were so intriguing that I decided to try to capture the patterns and beauty of them. It was so fascinating to see the results on the LCD that I ended up taking hundreds of images. Most amazing to me were the recognizable shapes that seemed to show up now and then. I wonder if our minds can register these frightening and amusing images on some subconscious level, or if they are simply to fleeting for us to discern. Perhaps, like dreams, what we see in them can tell us a bit about ourselves.

Post Processing:
All images have had some levels adjustment. I dodged and/or burned a bit on some shots to enhance the existing images. On a few, I cloned out errant embers that were distracting or ruined the composition. Most are cropped.
