Feeling Blue



Woke up this morning feeling really, really blue. Not looking forward to yet another mind numbing day at work. Thinking of picking up my camera and shooting a few frames seemed to lift my mood so I thought I'd load a 4gb card in the morning, sling the rig over my shoulder and set off, just taking the odd shot when I felt like it.

So I did. This is a series of images I took today on the way to work. There are not many, but they are revealing, and a bit scary really. The color temperature was set to custom the night before when experimenting with internal light so the shots came out with a very blue cast. Even though I shot in RAW, I decided to leave the images in as raw a state as they came out of the camera. Each image has no processing except covert to tiff, resize, border, then convert to 8 bit jpeg.

And each image is presented in sequence from the first image I took this morning, the last one I took this evening leaving the tube. There was no thought towards the execution of any image. Just lift to the eye, then shoot.

This is a fantastic project of yours. You have such an incredible eye to show real life, those little details that we skip cause we are rushing on our way to somewhere...
The blue tone gives a feeling of reality in the pictures, where we can enjoy from the great composition (like the one with the cigarrette) to the harshness of life (homeless people, persons walking with sad faces).
You nailed it again.
(I see you are enjoying the MDkII and the wide angle ;-P)
