I just fell in love with Turkey. Taking pictures of Turkey was special because it is such a beautiful blend of old and new, conservative and ultra modern. The people are warm and friendly as well as sensitive and tolerant.
Turkey is rich with beautiful historic monuments and archaeological sites. Despite Istanbul being a city of 15 m it does not feel like that. We stayed near Galata in the old town. There were no high-rise buildings within miles of this central location in Istanbul and it looked like a large ancient and classy town. I was particularly impressed by how they have preserved their architecture.
You just cannot go wrong with food in Turkey, though at times the waiters at the Galata Bridge restaurants encourage you to order far more than you can possibly eat. There are many great restaurants for all budgets.
Internal transportation is quick, prompt, clean and cheap in Istanbul and throughout Turkey. The trams are modern and quiet. Buses run on time.
This is a place that works efficiently and is yet not expensive. I really didn't want to return.
Wonderful! thanks for sharing these.
My wife and I just returned from Turkey but we could only visit Istanbul and Bursa. Looking at these pictures, we must go back! http://www.pbase.com/yardbird/world_turkey Cheers
