hi Mark. I vote. Great pictures. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Happy Holidays. God bless you.
I saw your pics from Canonball reef in helsinki. They were really nice, I'm impressed. From which direction was the wind that day? I haven't been surfing in Helsinki before and I was wondering when it's worth trying, I guess S or SW.
I am leaving in Malaysia at the moment and visiting this side of the world , after reading and looking at you pictures I am going to get a 35mm and hope I can take some great pictures.
I am going to laos for Christmas and new year if you have any tips about the " to do and not to do" in the country :)
I really admire people who have more talent than I do. I admire you!
no more pictures mark? Que pasa? Your pictures inspired me : )
Hi Mark. I am a Bangladeshi studying in the U.S. Just looked through your photographs - very candid and interesting! I think its a pretty good representation of Bangladesh! Good job. Take care :)

Nice photos. Very interesting angles and a lot of cool places visited. Will have to come back to view some more when I have time.
I admit you got talent. Now I'm jealous.

hola me gusto mucho ver tus fotografias de mi bello paraguay ! vivo en españ hace 5 años y en 15 dias estare otra vez en mi amadisimo pueblo ! gracias ! son hermosas las esencias q captas !
I hope to take better pictures when I travel and so you have provided me with lots of inspiration. I only use an automatic Nikon and my friends think I take good pictures(?). You have travelled to so many of the places which I would love to see but cannot afford. So I shall travel via your gallery until I can go to some of those places. Thanks and keep the beautiful photos coming.
From one who appreciates beauty captured on stills,
Got into your gallery while doing some search on Lonely Planet for info on Vietnam. Planning to go there with my hubby and thinking of travelling on our own ie not with organised tours. I like to visit some of those local places which are not touristy but provide a good insight into the local culture. What would you recommend?
BTW meant really to compliment you on the photos you took. Absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing them. Only seen some, Vietnam, Malaysia, portraits, under the sea..
Haven't visited yet but have plans to go when I am back to this part of the world again. Perhaps you can give me some recommendations after your visit :)
I'll be back-packing in New Zealand for a month? Have you been, if so what are some of the top 3 places I should visit?
I love my little Canon, it does some amazing things for such a cheap old thing. I haven't used any of the newer Powershots but imagine they would be good value for money.
Thanks for coming back to visit =)
Congrat's on ur new lil roomate in the making! And thanks for sharing all your wonderful pict's! PS- any reccomendations on a cheap digital camera, or would you recommend the one you are using now (Canon power Shot S230, do they even still make them)?
Hi M Anthony.
Really good photos!
See ya soon.
Best regards from NY!
You look like one of those people you love to meet on the road and why traveling is so magic. Great photography. I have been to many of the places that you have traveled and the way you captured the essence of being there has made me really nostalgic. I especially liked the section on giving photos back. Best of luck to your family & keep on livin' the dream.
Great photos through out.Spent 2 hours looking thru.Good luck to your new family life.Hope to see some pictures of your bub when arrives.
Lots of love and greetings from N>Z>
First of all, congrats on your new family!
Your pictures are very inspiring. Thank you for sharing them.
All the Best!
The idea of bringing back the photos to be people whenever you return is simply an absoulety fantastic idea and it even makes for more great photos.
Well done mate!!!!
I have just gone through all your photos and I am amazed! I have been to most of the places you have and my photos are trash compared to yours . . . I'm going to study yours and see where I'm going wrong.
Your photos are beautiful and a joy to see. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks again and best wishes on your new child . . . the fun begins!
Sandy (in Denton)
Hi Mark, You've a great collection of photos here...I'm getting itchy feet again! Thanks for visiting my galleries, and happy travels to you. Serena.
Hi Mark, I happened upon your gallery here whilst searching for images from Africa. I bookmarked it. Wonderful stuff. I'm not sure if I'm more impressed by the images themselves or by the fact that they were shot with a p&s. Just goes to show you it's the eye behind the lens, not the camera. =)
Look forward to seeing new photos as you post them.
So interesting site, thanks!
Very interesting. Mike
Thanks for Your comments Mark! Yor site is a wonderful travel book roud the world! Welcome to Finland at autum. Contact me before arriving to Helsinki and I'll buy You a beer! Esko
It's my first visit to your website. After just a quick browse, I'm really impressed!
Anyone posting comments, they will not show up straight away anymore as I am getting spam in my guestbook. Comments will show up once I have seen them to check they are legit messages.
Most shots are taken on auto mode, which is only 35mm at its widest. Some of the photos have been taken vertically and then stitched together which gives a similar effect to a wide angle shot. (This is the poor man's wide angle, the poor man's zoom is using binoculars in front of the camera lens which also works OK if you have a steady hand)
The other photos you might be thinking of are probably the close up shots that are taken on the manual setting using the macro function to give a small focal length, this sometimes makes it look like a wide angle shot as well.
Thanks for the interest,
I also stumbled across your site though TT. Love your photos - thanks for sharing them. I wanted to echo a question that has been asked earlier, about your camera settings. Many of your photos look as though they were taken using a wide-angle lens. How are you achieving that effect with a point-and-shoot? Are you using the automatic settings?
Best wishes safe and wonderful travels,
Thanks travelling for me while I am temporarily home-bound and for being my eyes in my favourite part of the world, Asia. Will follow you closely. I Am curious what you will make of Afghanistan of which I have nostalgic memories. Promised myself to go back there, then the wars came.
Have great times and encounters.
Hi marck, mi name is Yehimy, im from Paraguay and... bueno, no se a quien engaño, no se escribir en ingles. Coordialmente Invitado!
Mark, I didn't realise you had such a talent for photography. Your galleries have helped while away a very dull, dark day in Livingston. All in all, making me very jealous and making me think about Terrigal.
Have to say that you photographical talents only come next to your expertise in drinking fine wines and beer! You're a top bloke Sir. Wish we could have a catchup on Terrigal beach drinking a couple of Chimay Blue. Cheers!
Your pictures are so inspiring. I just booked a trip to Argentina and bought a book on travel photography. Thanks for motivating me to understand travel photography. And watch out for delhi belly...it put me out for a week.
GREAT pictures! I'm heading to Panama in a couple of days, and I think a friend of mine who went there before visited the same prestine island you did..;) Keep up that awesome work, it makes me book my next flight right away!
All the best,
I've sent you an email Seth....
I keep visiting your site because the pictures are so incredible. It brings back all the memories from my past adventures. I have a question for you. If you don't mind, I would like to get a few of your pictures printed large so I can hang them on my wall. Do you think I could just copy them from your site onto my computer and then upload them to snapfish? Do you think the resolution would be good or would I need the original if I plan on blowing it up? What would you suggest?
Just stumbled onto your website via the TT and have to say, it's the first time in a good while that I've felt such a huge urge to go travelling again! After doing two big trips, I was beginning to feel happy to settle for a while but your photos are great - thanks for reinvigorating my wanderlust!
Enjoy the world and everything you see x
Fantastic photos, can't wait to add some of my own. I have a few questions about torres del paine, if you get a chance please email me... firstname.lastname@example.org . I am doing the full circuit and want to know some specifics on how much food you brought, and the water availability. Cheers from the big apple!
Saw you on the TT, stopping by to say hi. I'll going to check out Mexico next week. Get some city detox. You site is still looking pretty right. Supposed to be a south swell hitting L.A. this weekend.
Your pics are cool. Seems like you've done alot of the same traveling as me and more! Love the Whistler pics I lived there for a year back in 2001. Love to hear your thoughts on Central america. I'm a 26 year old irish girl and thinking of backpacking around CA alone, whatya think? or let me know if you've replied to threats on thorn tree on this.
Thanks for visiting again Claudia. I leave on Monday on another long trip taking in Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. I should have hundreds of new photos when I return towards the end of next year.
I always keep coming back to ur site to see if you've posted new pict's....can't say how awesome they are and that hopefully one day I too will be visiting the places you have photographed! Never stop travelling.....Keep them pictures coming....we nosey people like them!
Just stumbled across your site from LP- what gorgeous pics! You've even inspired me to visit one of the countries on your list...happy travelling:)

You have very good website here.
I am glad to put my step in your guestbook.
Welcome to my website as well
Great shots! Did you get to the Mbaracayu reserve? Was it difficult to get to? Did you see any of the Ache' people there?
Thanks for having a look Henry.
I've been a student for the last 10 years but have taken a lot of time off to work and save money and then travel, mostly long stints away. I finally finished my degree a few weeks ago and have one last big trip before I settle down to a regular life.
I just went thru most of your photos and must say they
are beautiful. I envy you for being able to travel
to these places. My question, what does one do for a living
and still travel as you did?
Thanks for stopping by my place.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures.
Amazing pics, I too have a real passion for travelling and photography.
I was very happy to see the comment about keeping your favourite island in Thailand a secret, I lived there for a season a few years back and am heading there in 2 weeks, its 100% paradise....;-)

Mark, how have you spent 10 years travelling! photos are brilliant, definitely a talent. im planning my roudn the world trip based on your photos!
I envy the stamps in your passport! If I could only get to a fraction of the places where you have been, I would feel well-traveled. I enjoyed checking out your galleries very much and will be back to see where you've been.

Thanks for the feedback on my site. Loved peeking around your site and into some of the places that I've visited in my time. Good on ya mate!

All the best,
Mark, very nice galleries! Thanks for sharing and letting me have a 'little taste' of all these wonderful places. Thanks also for your kind comments on my galleries.
Mark, you have some awsome shots in your gallery. Love the beach scenes..
Hi Mark, found your gallery from your Thorntree TDP report... takes me back.... you have some awesome photos... and I thought I was well travelled!
Hi Mark, the much traveled person. What I would give to be in you shoes. Hope in the not too distant future that map of yours will be all red.
Thanks for your note in my gallery.
Mark, Thanks for the comment at
Your travel galleries are beautiful. It takes all kinds of personalities, doesn't it? My interest in photography is delving deep into my immediate environment, with the good and the bad, or as
(also from Australia - the clearer eyes of the outback?) says about one of my photographs: "raw and to the bone." Pierre.
I'm not sure whether you're luckier because you visited Chile or because you live in Australia. You are blessed to be able to go to all these cool places.
You are an excellent photographer. Thanks for sharing.
You have some lovely images here - a great record of your travels. I'm looking forward to the new galleries from your next trip.
Excellent travel photography and thank you so much for showing me the world through your eyes!
Wow, you've got some great photo galleries
keep up the good work
Hey Mark, thanks for the nice comments about some of my shots. Sometimes I do feel that some of my borders are a little over the top, but that's just the way I've gotten into it. I feel that more recently I've been more subtle with the backgrounds (except the bougainvillea picture I just uploaded, sorry). I kind of think that colors taken from the image itself accenuates the border. Usually, though I like a simple white with a muted black shading around the image.
Anyway, enough about my stuff...your travelling galleries are proof of a well travelled life. I did some running around when I was younger but not even an sixteenth of the places you've been lucky enough to visit. Maybe I'll win the lottery next week, quit the project engineering craziness and get out travelling myself. Good luck and thanks for sharing..

I followed a link through the forum on travel photos and was wondering where exactly the picture of the Buddha's (?) hand with the full moon seemingly balancing on it is; I'd like to take a closer look.
I'm off to play in your galleries (maybe I'll stumble upon it!) Your work looks great - you're so lucky to have been able to travel to all these places. Thanks for sharing.
I have just quit work to spend some time in Peru, Bolivia and Ecudor. Was not to sure I have done the right thing. Seeing your picture have got me so excited and pleased with the decisions I have made.
Your photos are absolutely amazing!
I'm saving up to travel at the moment and will hopefully be able to see some of the amazing places you have been to!
Good luck for your future travels :o)
Congratulations Mark on a fantastic photo book. The pictures of Argentina and Uruguay were especially pleasing as I'm headed there in October. All the best for future travels.
I absolutely love your pics!! I am a member of a neat travel/photo site:
. I think your travle knowledge and photos would be a fabulous contribution. They seem to be a quality company that just wants to bring travelers together. Try it out! Best of luck to you with your travels.
you have a very nice portfolio. Traveling is a pleasure and of course it must be shared, specially with the ones that have the same feeling. All the best for you. Luís
Mark.. thank you for leaving a comment. I'm envious of your knowledge of secret beaches. May your journeys be safe..
...And I thought I traveled a lot. Well done and I am quite envious of your travels. Great gallery.
Mark, thanks for your visit and your kind words, I appreciate it! I see you have a lot of great pictures from all over the world, I find it really interesting to see scenes from other places, it will be a joy to check them out!
Hi Mark, thanks for visiting and your kind remarks. Your galleries are wonderful. I have made some comments, (the last 3 as 'guest' - somehow the pc I'm using did not keep me as logged in). Thanks. EK
You should do a book. I would pay for these, then you could keep traveling and taking more photos! Thank you so much for sharing these, they are breathtaking. I'm going to go cry now. ;)
Was looking for some inspiration because i want to start the whole travelling thing myself! You have definitely given me that, your photographs are amazing, beautiful and touching. I want to see the world :-) Don't worry I will be back to check your site out. Keep up the good work, gee im so envious of ya! lol
Ps. Where's the next trip going to take you too???
Wonderful galleries! I'm envious of all the places you've visited.
Love your photos the black and white with colour ones are particularly inspired. I have also travelled South America 2 years ago and seeing your photos bought it all back. Thankfully the next trip to Central America is only a few months away.
Well congratulations on taking advantage of your time off from school! Not too many do that anymore! We only live once and we need to take every lil oppurtunity to go EXPLORE the WORLD!
Thank you for your comments on my gallery (www.pbase.com/meelitamm). You have a lot of very great images yourself! Amazing!
pleeeeeeze, where is that panaman island?i am going to travel in central and south amerika for some months and would love to stay on that island for some time.thank you!cla
What camera? : Digital photos are taken with a Canon Powershot S230 and the film shots that have been scanned are from a Nikon 120ED.
How do I travel so much? : I work hard when at home and spend very little money. I have the time because I'm still at university and have had a lot breaks in my studies. I finally finish this year.
How do you get to travel so much? I guess the question is, what do u do for a living that it allows you all the time to travel? That's awesome you get to do it!
PS----What type of camera do use?
YOU ROCK! Impressed with your extensive travelling. Can I ask, how old are you and how do you get to travel so much? Happy trails! KEEP ENJOYING YOUR LIFE!!!!
How to travel without leaving your chair, visit Mark L's galleries. Great I'll be back in my favorites already keep up the great work.
where the hell is that FANTASTIC panaman island??!!!your pics are mindblowing!
Wow I'm really impressed with your pictures, I hope to travel that much in my lifetime. You have motivated me to get a camera for my trips.
Excellent photos. Am planning a trip to Northern Thailand, Cambodia & Laos early next year, so it is great to be able to check out photos of the area (although the feet get kinda itchy). Looking forward to seeing the completed album of Canada.
You really get around! Fantastic natural expression and setting. I'll be back for more.
What a great tour of the world through your eyes!
Thanks a lot!
Hi Mark. I am amazed at how much you've traveled. Your pictures make me feel like I had been there myself. Thanks for your comments in my galleries and thanks for sharing these marvelous pictures.
I'm in Puerto Varas (Chile). Have just viewed your pictures and I'm blown away by them, especially the ones of Chile. I mean that. I had no idea that a digital could give such good results. But you've got a photographer's eye as well, and nothing can buy that.
Sam Antonio Photography
Please keep me posted when you add new photos to your galleries. Take care.
Thanks Phillip, the photo at Corcovado was spontaneous. I just looked up and there the moon was right next the hand.
Nice pics in the forum. Must have taken awhile to get the moon to line up like that, or was it spontaneous? Thanks for sharing.
I like your photos very much; the ones from Argentina and Chile make me want to leave now! But I have to wait until November :-)
Thank you for your comment in our guestbook!
Wow Mark...FANTASTIC gallery of beautiful panamaramas. Really loved your shots!
Thanks for taking the trouble to share these great travel images. Its good to get beyond the usual destinations double good to have such excellent photography.
An amazing collection of images, Mark! I've met few people who are as well travelled as you! I liked your shots from Myanmar and Thailand best (my grandmother used to live in Myanmar (I think it was called Burma back then though), but the rest of the places you've visited are very interesting too.
Thanks for sharing your travels!
Thanks for visiting my guestbook. Feel free to leave a short note, I hope you enjoyed my photos.
