Michelle and I decided to head up White Oak Creek in Rockcastle County to see if we could find any early migrants and were not disappointed. We discovered a loop horse trail that topped over a ridge and back down to the main road. On top of the ridge we had a nice feeder flock pass by that included 3 Blackburnian Warblers along with a Bay-breasted, Pine, Magnolia, Hooded, Worm-eating, and several Chestnut-sided and Tennessee Warblers. We also noted Red-eyed and Yellow-throated Vireo and several Gnatchatchers in the area. Yesterday, while running the Rockcastle Duathlon (3 mile run, 17 mile bike, then 2 mile run), I noted an Osprey fishing over Lake Linville near Mount Vernon, KY. It was a perfect weekend to be outside in Kentucky.
