Michelle had some shopping to do in Roanoke so I decided to spend a few hours driving the Blue Ridge Parkway around Roanoke. My first stop was Buck Mountain Overlook where I found Ovenbirds, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded Warblers, Pine Warblers, Black-and-white Warblers, Redstart, and Worm-eating Warblers. A Broad-winged Hawk came flying over. Other migrants included Gnatcatchers, Scarlet Tanager and Wood Thrush. I visited the famous "Roanoke Star" and stopped at various overlooks along the way. I also took a quick trip out to Carvins Cove Lake just to see how to get there. It was a nice way to spend a few hours enjoying the spring weather.
