Michelle, Chazzy and I enjoyed our first day of hiking and birding at our new home in Kentucky. We decided to check out the Berea Woods area and were not disappointed. We had great views from both the East and West Pinnacles as well as the Indian Fort Lookout and the Buzzard's Roost Lookout. Best birds of the day were a Philadelphia Vireo and a Red-shouldered Hawk interacting with a Turkey Vulture. The Philadelphia was our best look ever at this species as he foraged in a treetop which was eye level and 20 feet away from us at one of the overlooks. Overall, a great morning of hiking.
