When is the next get together?
Donna K. 29-Jul-2016 22:08
Aloha! Does any one have access to Aloha Airlines memorabilia, particularly black and white glossy poster ads from the 60's? There is one in particular that featured a Filipino family. This Filipino ‘ohana used to have one, but got lost in Hurricane 'Iniki. Looking for another one for them. If anyone has a lead, please email me at dkahauna@hawaii.edu. Mahalo.

Aloha from the ninth Hawaiian island las Vegas! I grew up in CA and currently live in summerlin in las vegas, but i have such fond memories of flying on aloha since 1987 as a kid with my parents up until the closing in 2008, im 38 now and still miss and love aloha airlines, and even though we werent from HI, being on Aloha was always a treat and wonderful.
I hope the airline opens again under new ownership in the near future, is anyone following this wish?

Every one have a great 2016 and fly Hawaiian until Aloha emerges again! Mahalo, Chris Las Vegas Nv

These are great memories. I share in them as a child of an AO employee. My dad (Ora Johnson) would take us to the annual Christmas parties at the hangar. Each child was presented with wrapped presents from Santa. The festivities were awesome. Thanks for perpetuating the Aloha spirit.

If anyone knows a Chinese/Thai guy who may live in Sevenoaks in Kent. Between December, 2008 and January, 2009, he was outside a pub in Sevenoaks speaking to a police officer as I drove past. I believe this was the High Street as there were a lot of shops and a small market.

If anyone has any idea who I might mean, he could contact me on swaite99@googlemail.com

Aloha Billy!
Mahalo for posting my comments about the Stories of Aloha book! It's important for the Aloha 'ohana to know that a complimentary copy of the book will be given to everyone who was a full-time Aloha employee at the time the airline closed. Aloha Air Cargo has kindly offered to ship the books to the outer islands when the book is released in October. There will also be a festive book distribution and signing at the Aloha Air Cargo hangar in Honolulu. As you know, part of the proceeds will go to the Lokahi for Aloha Financial Assistance Fund. Mahalo to everyone!

Mahalo nui loa no ko oukou piha me ke aloha nui. I worked in the Contract Service Department, on the ramp for 9 years, and constant aloha for one another was evident. I surely miss that irreplaceable feeling. I did not realize that you all are still keeping such wonderful care of one another via online. To all of you who do such a splendid job with this, keep up the
wonderful aloha for one another.

Billy-Aloha from SFO. I am so bad about keeping your ctc information. I usually get my news from the on-line versions of the Honolulu star-bulletin and the Honolulu advertiser. Of course events that involve the AQ ohana usually already happened. I did run across the Lokahi giving tree for AQ several months back when first borne. But that is about all I have been able to contribute to since AQs demise. I think part of it is denial that AQ is no longer and I keep hoping to see in the news one day that Aloha is flying again or wake up and pray that it was all just a nightmare. I just wanted to let everyone know that I think of the AQ ohana and only wish the best for everyone. It's taken me this long to respond this way, embarassing on my part of course in many ways, but I keep thinking it's just a dream. I have included my email address, and I hope that someday I can join in on one of the gatherings that you all do back home. I will be back in Hawaii on vacation April 25-30. Time flys by when life is at the forefront and I wish I was better involved with the support that everyone needed when AQ shut down. Please let me know of upcoming events, fundraisers, or something that I might be of any help with here at AA and in SFO or even to help with an event back home. If it's to purchase a t-shirt or offering of a donation for an event or fundraiser please let me know. I can still hear AQ441 approaching the house after it's takeoff out of OAK every morning. Sometimes I look up when I hear an airplane above hoping that it's a bird of paradise flying overhead. Maybe someday again, maybe...someday!!!!!

Aloha from SFO,

Shane

I have to say I have a high level of respect for you. What you have done with this web site is tremendous! I am sure the former employees/friends and family appreciate this as much as I do. I received a copy of the CD 60 Years of Aloha. Towards the end of the history segment, if I am correct in recognizing you, you received plenty of exposure. Congratulations on a job well done and for the job of keeping the web site going! Iam very grateful.

Billy, I need your assistance, please. A few months back I was fortunate enough to obtain an Aloha Airlines F/A uniform shirt. The beautiful blue, with birds of paradise and tiny scripted Aloha throughut the pattern. Well, when wearing it one day, one of my dogs jump up on me and the claws left three deep runs in it. I am still sick over this. Would you have any idea where I could obtain another one, in a "large", please? I was fortunate enough to once have this lovely treasure and would like to replace it if possible. I will gladly make a donation to the Aloha Outreach Prgram in exchange for the shirt. Please let me know what you can do. Mahalo...Michael

Aloha Billy:

It took me a long time, but about three weeks ago, while traveling inter island, I went to the airport a little early just so that I could walk through the "Aloha terminal" one last time. I was with a friend who understood how important it was for me to walk through and see the large poster pictures still up on the walls of the terminal. I had to touch every one of them, just to know that they were still there. Gave me goosebumps. I know the sadness of the passenger ops shutting down is still pretty close to all of us. I am just grateful that, once in a while, I will hear the 'ol -200's taking off. When I see that, I lift my arm and say "keep going, climb higher, we'll see you again soon!"

Thank you for updating the website. I still look at them on a daily basis and think about all of the good times we had together as a family. I truly miss everyone from AQ. It still saddens me to think how everything unfolded, but, we can't change the past. I literally run into someone from AQ every week. To think of all of the friends I have made over the years, I am truly blessed.

Pat Lee 23-Apr-2008 03:21
Billy,

I got one real "old timer-kine" story for you. Back in the 1970's, I and Ron Abel, Grant Howe, Randy Lum, et. al. were stewards (Polically correct term is "male flight attendant" now) and we also surfed. We'd be on "stand-by" status and would have to call in to scheduling or dispatch every 2 hours to see if they needed us. So, being the resourceful kind of guys we were, we'd go surfing at Kaiser Bowl or Rock Piles and paddle in every two hours to call to see if we were needed. We either had our steward uniforms in the lockers in the stewards lounge, which was next to the baggage belt loader in the old terminal, or in the trunk of our cars. Back then, there was a pay phone in the heli-port lot fronting the Hilton Lagoon, and phone calls were a dime. So we'd fill our pockets with dimes and surf until/unless we had to scurry to the airport to fill in for a flight crew member.

Those were the days, and we are all blessed with these fond memories of Aloha Airlines...best place in the universe to work!!

Pat Lee, former flight attendant 1973-1992

Hi Billy,
I was referred here to this site from one of my girlfriends who was an employee of Aloha Airlines. Anyway, this is a great site to keep the aloha going with not only the employees but others who were touched by them as well. With that said, I wanted to ask your permission to see if it was okay to post some information about a great opporutnity for employment and financial knowledge for employees of Aloha Airlines. Our company will be hosting an informational briefing in May for those interested. There will be dinner and entertainment provided. If your permission is granted, I would actually prepare a informational flyer stating the details (when, where, time, etc...) and you would just need to post the flyer itself on this webiste. I hope this is an appropriate request and I hope to hear from you. Thanks again for your time!!!

Aloha, Billy

It was the best 13 years at Aloha Airlines.....I appreciate the beautiful pix's of all of Aloha's finest............Thanks for the spiritual & caring deeds that you have done for all in need.....Keep everyone informed; as you have always done....who knows? ...
Maybe, we all can have an "Aloha" Family Reunion....down the line....who knows ?
Thanks so very much......
Pat & Dianna Lee 15-Apr-2008 05:55
Billy,
Thanks for this. Just looking at all the photos and video clips bring back warm memories. Dianna started flying in 1969. I started at Aloha back in 1973 (stewards wore orange bush jackets and white bell-bottomed trousers) and left in 1992. So as an Aloha couple, we put in nearly 60 years combined. When I left, I was told by retirees and former employees "you'll really miss the people". I find that is more true today than ever. Aloha Airlines was such a great place to work! And it is a bond we will always share with other employees. Once Aloha, always Aloha...and we are both very honored and fortunate to have been part of that wonderful Aloha Airlines family for all these years.

Take care and Keep well!

Aloha Billy,
Thank you so much for keeping this site updated! What would we do without you and all your hard work in maintaing this site?

Monday, March 31st, 2008 will forever go down in the annals of Hawaii history as "Black Monday". What a sad day for the thousands of us that worked at Aloha Airlines and for the entire community that depended upon us for their travel needs.

I will never forget all people I've met during my 13years at Aloha Airlines! My one regret is not being able to say goodbye in person to the many of you that touched my life in such positive ways. Let's all use this site as a vehicle to stay in touch as we all move on, albeit in different directions. This ever changing world will never know another company with a stronger bond and spirit of Ohana than we had at Aloha Airlines! We laughed, cried, and fought together during both the good times and bad times. We were family!

Please continue to update this site with as many photos and as much info as possible. This way we can all visit to reminisce. Thank you and God Bless!

I just wanted to let everyone that I have known at Aloha during my 19 years...that it has been an absolute privilege to work with you. I loved all the laughs and good times. For those that helped me during my rough time..words cannot express my gratitude. You have all had a profound affect on the person I have become. I will never forget the ohana that was Aloha Airlines. Wherever life takes me, I will always share with the people around me, how lucky I was to be a part of the proudest airline that was Aloha...

What it's like to have the blue in my lap,
to look down on birds,
to feel freedom in a thing called the Yolk..."

To Captain Alton:

I simply cannotbelieve what has happened. Aloha had become a hobby/interest of mine over the past 20 years. I am a former airline employee, as was my late father, both of us with Pan Am. Aloha always promoted a fun and family environment amongst it's employees. My heart goes out to you and all those connected. I wish you only the best.

Hi Billy
Sorry to hear the news about Aloha. We have a lot of friends that have been a part in the Aloha family and it is a sad day. Thank you for all your support and service over the years and we will keep you in our prayers. Take care and God bless. Wade Tokoro

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9

"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever.
Amen.
1 Peter 5:10-11

So do not fear, for I am with you;d o not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
"All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.
Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.
For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:10-13

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

May the Lord our God warmly bless each of you during this time. Draw near to Him and He will give you peace, strength, and courage to persevere.

Congratulations to Patti on this very special day in her both her life and that of Aloha's. I had the priviledge of coming to HNL in 1999-2000 and training a great bunch of Flight Attendants, inclduing Patti for the inaugral flight to Oakland Ca. How memorable the training was trying to toss a salad and add wontons without them getting soggy ! I have to say in my 40 years in Australian Aviation my fondest memories are with you guys at Aloha.
I so much wanted to be there to celebrate Patti's great milestone in Aloha's aviation history and unfortunately commitrments back in Australia have at the last minute prevented me, however I will be there in spirit and will be over as soon as I can in the New Year.

Patti have a wonderful last flight, my sincere congratulations and my every good wish for the next chapter in your life from not only me but all my colleagues in the Qantas- Jetstar Group. They have all heard about you !!!

Hey Billy,
It was nice seeing all of you again at the Christmas party! Even if I dont work for Aloha anymore and was freezing my "behind" in Alaska I still kept in contact with all my wonderful friends. It's like I never left. My special friends from the terminal, maintenance and reservations have become my family and life time friends.
Thanks for all that you do Billy! When I move away again all I have to do is look up this sight, see everybody, SMILE :) and feel at "home". I miss you guys!
Stan Fichtman (younger) 23-Jun-2006 01:26
Aloha Billy:

I write to you on behalf of my father, Stan Fichtman, who worked for Aloha from 1968 to 1984, retiring as the Vice President of Maintenance. I remember the days when my father used to take me out to the airport and see the funbirds out on the tarmac or in the hanger. Seeing the old retro-style come out again is really a good sign that Aloha is returning to it's funtimentals and showing how someone "can go home again."

Although now my father likes to live a quiet life - still in Hawaii - without much fanfare to what he did at and for Aloha "back in the day," I know for sure that his heart must have been lifted when he saw the newly-painted funbird in front of the hangar at Honolulu on the news.

Keep the photographs up!

Aloha Billy,

Just NR on AQ OAK-KOA 6/5/05. Awesome in-flight service as usual. Only 4 of us in First Class. Don't see that too often these days. Everything here in SFO is great. Here at AA it's okay, I guess. Just starting my 8th year here at the ending of the month. Yikes, how time FLY'S. Great pictures as usual. Take care and my aloha to everyone at AQ. Really miss it there.

Aloha! To answer your question, I dont think there's a ranking by uniforms for our flight attendants. You can be the highest F/A in seniority or the youngest in the rank and file but both have the option to wear whatever uniform they feel comfortable in. We dont have any pursers' on board with that title...just First Flight Attendant or first stew and then by numbers...1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
Lee 11-Apr-2004 01:13
I was wondering if you can post some pictures showing the flight attendants uniforms, according to their ranks - chief pursers' uniforms, in-flight pursers' uniforms, seniors and juniors uniforms, if there is any ranking positions for their uniforms. ;)
Simon 12-Mar-2004 03:04
Does Aloha Airlines block some seats for the crew to rest on? Or is there a crew resting area on the plane?
Aloha Airlines Ohana01-Mar-2004 20:40
Mahalo Simon!
Some how the crew manages those flight that extend over 6 hours. The aircraft is very comfortable and peaceful on board. I will get some galley shots when time permits. Aloha, Mr. Aloha
Simon 29-Feb-2004 14:30
An excellent webpage! It'll be better if there were cabin interior photos included, like the galley and so on. heheh =)

I was wondering how the crew can cope 6 hours in the B737-700 flights, if the flight was full. hmm...
Hanken Luvdart 25-Nov-2003 02:22
I would love to travel half-way around the world just to fly Aloha Airlines. I have flown Aloha Airlines in the early 90's. Aloha's employees are one of the most professional folks in the industry. They are one bunch of sociable people, too!!! I can't wait to return. I see a lot has changed!

Have you seen this website? I'm not the moderator, but surprised not to see any of Aloha's uniforms.http://www.uniformfreak.com It's would be nice if some employee would donate vintage or current uniforms to this museum. Well then, keep up the great work on this wonderful website, and the Aloha Spirit!
Makamaka 21-Nov-2003 21:28
I found this website where they design airline liveries. It's a pretty well known company, but not as big as Landor. Here's the link!

And thank you to the whole AQ o'hana (i can't name you all..trainers, Sr.Agts, pilots, flt attendants, management, etc)...you've been great, thks for the friendship and ontime departures...thk you for spreading the Aloha spirit to the mainland and Hollywood area.....I will miss you all...but will come back to visit from time to time.....I don't live too far and i'll be working out of the Port of Long Beach (45 mins from BUR airport) for Customs....
