Batanes, Taming the islands, the sea, and the wind. Northern Island of the Philippines

You could say the Ivatan "struggles" with hostile nature and conjure up battle scenes of winners and losers. And you can say "contends" and paint contest scenes of athletes measuring their strengths against worthy contenders towards triumph. I think the Ivatan take their relation with their homeland and its natural conditions as a contest, and their culture as an extended chain of triumphs over a basically benevolent but wild Nature - a mountain to climb, a wave to row over, and a wind to sail by.
This excerpts are from the essays of Dr. Florentino H. Hornedo (The author of the book Taming the wind. An ethno-cultural history on the Ivatan of the Batanes Isles)

u deffinetly have they "photogrpher´s eye" but imo u play too much with photoshop, most colors are overexposed - im curious how the original images look like - even better i guess....

you know that by looking at these pictures every man, woman and child have a special presence brought about by the complexity and polairity of nature. Batanes really is a place of reckless beauty and boundless energy encased in silent earth with a song distinctly hers alone.. I just hope that Batanes would remain the way she is now.....
