25 Mar 2009 "A wounded national proudness"

Today is a Greek national holiday as we celebrate our liberation from the Turks in 1821 A.D.
So it is a perfect day to estimate our achievements in these 200 years.
This flag was hunging on a boat torn apart by the wind
and gave me the opportunity to think
that it is difficult for a nation to live realizing that the only thing to be proud of,
is a glorious past.

Tattered, but still standing proud...I guess this is symbolic!

My opinion about my country is about the same. The only difference is that we brazilians don't have your glorious past. I mean we don't even have a past for we are too young.
I guess this is happening to many nations.
