Yaziddi girl

Ba'adre, Iraq

Another image from my visitto Ba'adre with the "emergency project".

This girl and her family waited for over an hour to be let in.
They eventually did receive their blankets and a oil heater.

Yazidiz and or Ezidis as they may be called, are of Kurdish origin. Difference between the Kurds we know today and them the Yazizis, is that, they have never acepted Islam and continued with their pre-Islamic Kurdish religion, the Yazidism

This is such a powerful image. The girl is so very beautiful, but it's the combination of hands that give this it's strength.

This seems to put you right in that place...where the girl's eye contact grabs you and won't let you go.
Voted.

there is a woman from here (VA, USA) who has been going to Afghanistan with cameras and teaching the women there how to express themselves thru photography . . . I think your pictures, and some that I see from her visits, are remarkably telling. I hope to see more from the Afghan women soon. In the mean time, keep posting your incredible pictures.

good to see she had a smile for you despite the wait.

Nice portrait, great the way that she looks shy but curious, and peers through the wood, whilst grasping it, as if she is using it to hide behind, works nicely, good work Anthony! Nick
