I went out to the Taylor Valley for a week to work as safety manager on the edge of the glacier where the researchers were placing flags in the ice to measure strain over time. One of the researchers I worked with was a high school classmate of mine, Thomas. We stayed at the Lake Hoare Camp (hut) and each day were helicoptered to the work site, near Blood Falls. Some days we had a bit of time after work before the helo would return, so we did a bit of exploring.
