Every mid-August for the last twenty four years, the Palace of the Governors has sponsored the annual Mountain Man Trade Fair and Rendezvous held in the courtyard behind the museum. Visitors enter through the blue gate where one can find "foofaraw" from the era of the fur traders in New Mexico. The Martinez Hacienda in Taos also holds a trade fair the last weekend in September.
