SECOND HIKE: Rainforest in El Cedro |
![Rainforest in El Cedro was SO NEAT, but very cold! [Ang in this pic - can you see her?]](http://ic2.pbase.com/t6/71/580571/4/81812825.lZikxSxm.jpg) Rainforest in El Cedro was SO NEAT, but very cold! [Ang in this pic - can you see her?] |
This hiking trail was our favorite (El Cedro) |
Although it was SUPER steep, winding down the moutain |
Apparently when it rains a lot, these gorges fill with water |
The spiderwebs in the rainforest were pretty cool |
THIRD HIKE: Hiking trail to El Cedro (this trail was a killer - straight up/down) |
FOURTH HIKE: Canada de Jorge hiking trail |
Curvy road (there are no other kinds in all of La Gomera!) |
We found this GREAT overlook on SW side of island near Hermitage Senora del Paso |
 |
Felt like being on top of the world |
It was so serene and quiet here (just above the clouds) |
More views from overlook (similar to Grand Canyon) |
Tiny village visible from where we stopped here |

Road down to Valle Gran Rey (where do you park if you visit cemetery?) |

Underground hiking tunnel to El Cedro (very dark, definitely need good flashlight) |
LOS ROQUES: Volcanic vents that were filled with lava more acidic than basalt |
The erosive action over millions of years eroded the more easily dissolved surrounding lava rock |
All that remains is these old rock 'chimneys' |
They can be as much as several hundred meters higher than the ground surrounding them |
This was the most spectacular thing - seeing the clouds like a waterfall over the roques |
 |
Los Roques - this was by far one of our most favorite natural discovery on the island |
Los Roques (with view of Tenerife in distance) |
Ang thought the area around the Roques was one of the most beautiful she has ever seen on Earth! |
We went back to the Roques in the evening. It was eerie! |
 Sunset at the Roques |
The clouds and fog were SUPER thick |
It was extremely windy (cold with dense clouds) and the Roques became invisible |
An outlook spot on West side of island |
