A buddy of mine on an Americas driving adventure trip lost his German Shepard, Punanie, to a river in Panama 5/2/08. We are very sad to lose Punanie! God Speed good dog.
ok so I thought it would be easyer for me to tell the story by email before you ask, please have a look at these photos, they are the last few minutes of punanies life. I met a family in this town called Penonome Panama, and I stayed the night on there farm, during the last day Punanie and I alot of fun playing on there Farm with there children, I was cleaning the van getting ready for our trip back to the states, we were going to leave at noon on may 1st and then spend the night in Panama city, we were having so much fun and the family liked us alot so we decided to stay the night and leave in the morning, well in the late after noon 2 of the brothers and there wives and children were telling me about a river near by and asked if we wanted to go swimming, it sounded like fun, so we went. when we got there they said the waterfall was dangerus because of the rocks, I realy didnt think anything of it. we have been in many rivers lakes and oceans so i didnt think is was that big of a big deal, so any way we went swimming and jumping and swimming in the pool in the river. you can see it in the photos. so on our way out we were walking by the water fall, and to be totaly honist it didnt look too bad and i was checking it out. then punanai walked in to it. and from just looking at the water fall you can not see it, I mean I was like 2 feet away from her. there is a huge hole like 3 or 4 feet round. and there is a massive amout of water going down this hole and is a long tunel that gose super far under ground and they it comes up oh the other side of the water call. so she got sucked under. I was like 2 feet away and I didnt see any danger. I was so close that if I say a problem I could have grabed her. I almost dove in after her when on of ther brothers said it would kill me. I was screeming I couldnt find her finaly she should up on the other side, it seemed like forever. I was screeming. we dove in the water and pulled her lifless body out. I was giving her mouth to mouth again it seemed like for ever. then her toung turned blue. and I watched the life leave her eyes. I dont know. it didnt see that dangers. so we carried her out of the canyon.by the time we got back to the farm it was dark.and I and and burried her that night.
this was so strange. this could have been me. in a way I think she saved my life. I woke up later in the early morning and I thought it was a dream,
