The City Hall opened in 1930. It served as Hayward City Hall between 1930-1969. When the Hayward City Center opened in October 1969 the city moved there. Today The Hayward City Hall is located at 777 B Street (just 3 blocks away from Giualini Plaza)[citation needed]

One trace from the Hayward Fault runs directly under the Old City Hall building. The building was abandoned because of the damage to the structure due to fault creep.
