Ptolemy's Cluster

Loftus, NSW

Also known as Messier 7, this young cluster floats about 1000 light-years away in front of a rich golden field of stars near the centre of our Galaxy. The dark dust cloud Barnard 287 is to the lower left, and the globular cluster NGC6453 is to the upper right. Press F11 for full screen.

Canon EOS 60D
13 x 5 minute exposures (65 minutes integration time), ISO800, EOS 60D, darks, flats and bias subtracted. 150mm f/5 Newtonian on HEQ5 pro mount, Orion mini autoguider. Stacked and processed in PixInsight and Photoshop. full exif
