That does help and now I see her fur better and those shiny eyes peering out from her heavy eyebrows. What a nice portrait.

Margaret, thanks. I did a crop that didn't sacrifice the ear and hope that helps a bit!

Too bad the ground is so bright it makes the difficult black-dog problem even harder to solve. My eye sees this better with a good crop off the left side of the picture... however I don't suggest that because the dog's ear would be sacrificed in the process.

This is better, because I can see his eyes. While he is totally black, there is reflected light. Funny that you spot-metered him--that would work on white Nessie.

Both ! This is tough, because in real life he is totally black! And i spot-metered him.
In order to get him seen on these monitors (in daylight, which is toughest situation for that),
I have to make him gray. See if this one is okay.

Thanks!

Is this my dark monitor, or could this be lightened?

I had the same problem with Nessie, unless I compensated--she would be just a white blob.
