The last three houses in this shot were three bedroom homes and they were for enlisted military families. All of the other houses along the row were two bedroom homes. The houses behind/side of the fire station were also three bedroom and these were officers houses. Of course the Commanding Officer's home was larger. In other words...9 out of 29 homes were three bedrooms. Six of 29 were officer housing.

Teresa, thanks for filling in information, as we wondered so much about how life was back then. I was in San Francisco when the earthquake hit, and had just stood up after working on some programming for hours when the whole room started moving as if on mud; I thought that maybe I was dizzy after concentrating too long. It went on for 15 seconds which is a LONG scary time. I imagine that where you were you might have seen it acting on the water too. Thanks for adding info to the page!

I lived in the third house from the far end from July 31, 1986 to January 2, 1990. The address was 53 Main Rd. Pt. Molate 94801. The house numbers were out of order. The house next door (second from the far end was #52 and the last house was #54. Pt. Molate was a quiet/quaint and safe place to live. (except when the earthquake of October 17, 1989 hit) It really got interesting in the hot summer days as the trucks hauling the "road kill" would pass in front of our home on their way to the old whaling station to unload. Pt. Molate has a lot of history there. Thank you for posting these photos. They bring back a lot of fond memories. I would like to revisit Pt. Molate some day, but I'm not sure when that might happen.
