From Antonio Paolucci's book, Clemente Papi made a plaster copy, to be used to make
a bronze copy to replace the original in the Piazza. "All subsequent total and partial casts...
have been made from Papi's." The bronze copy was rejected by Florentines for that site
and was moved to Piazza Michelangelo. In 1910, Luigi Arrighetti's marble copy was set up
in Pizza della Signoria.
